Wosports 800 Distance Finder Review

Review

You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to find a decent golf rangefinder that will do the job. The WOSPORTS 800 has made sure of that. Offering 6x magnification and distance readings of up to 800 yards, it offers as many features as some of its competitors that are 3 times as expensive. When we took the WOSPORTS 800 out to test, we liked how compact it was in our hand. It also feels sturdy and well-constructed and we think it is one of the better looking rangefinders out there.

To test the accuracy, we took it out and compared distance readings side by side with the Bushnell Pro XE (the most accurate rangefinder we’ve ever tested). The WOSPORTS rangefinder consistently was off by 3 or 4 yards on distances over 150 yards. Within 150 yards, the accuracy improved to 1-2 yards. This may seem alarming to some people, but for the vast majority of golfers, accuracy within 3-4 yards for longer distances and 1-2 yards on shorter distances is plenty good enough.

That said, we would have liked to see the 1-2 yard accuracy at up to 200 yards. When we measured the accuracy of distances that included slope, the WOSPORTS didn’t fare nearly as well. Using the slope feature, measurements were all over the place. The instrument’s specs say its slope angle measurements are accurate within 45 degrees. This is just silly. I’m not sure how it calculates the slope, but it could technically use a set angle of 45 degrees for every slope measurement and be accurate within 45 degrees. Don’t use the slope feature.

Distance Range

800 yards

Flag Lock with Vibration

Can lock onto the pin at up at 150 yards. The device vibrates when it is locked onto the pin, a feature that doesn’t seem important, but is actually really great.

Continuous Scan

Allows you to check multiples distances, one right after the other.

Slope Measurement

Honestly worthless. Just pretend it doesn’t have a slope feature (because it basically doesn’t) and never use it.

Water Resistant

This is better than rain-resistant, which is how many rangefinders are classified.

Rechargeable

Convenient USB charging port.

Reflectivity

There were different reflection settings. We didn’t mess with this setting at all.

Speed Range

According to its own specs sheet, can measure speeds up to 300 km/h. Again, we never used this feature. We think it’s a feature meant to be used for hunting.

Pros

  • Lots of features for the price
  • Solid feel and construction
  • Vibrating pin lock
  • Water resistant
  • Very affordable

Cons

  • Terrible slope feature (Don’t use it!)
  • Not suitable for very advanced players

Wosports Yardage Finder Conclusion

This is a really decent golf rangefinder, and at this price point it is a great option. The accuracy and yardage range are plenty sufficient for most golfers. The water resistant and rechargeable by USB features are both nice features and unique for this type of product. Just treat this rangefinder like it doesn’t have a slope feature.
