SwingCaddie SC200 Plus Review 2021

Launch monitors have become a very hot item in the world of golf and are becoming increasingly popular. This popularity results in more and more products being introduced to the category. One product in particular, the Swing Caddie SC200 Plus, has gained a significant following. After several of our industry associates recommended the product to us, we knew we had to take it out and test if for ourselves.

Swing Caddie has been around for a while, and they have established themselves as a legitimate leader in the world of personal launch monitors. The SC200 Plus is the successor to the SC200, which was a wildly successful launch monitor. The SC200 Plus is basically the SC200 with swing speed added to the list of features, which we will now cover.

Swing Speed

We might as well start with what sets the SC200 Plus apart from the SC200, and that's the ability to measure your swing speed. This feature can be used without hitting a ball. Measuring your swing speed is especially useful when you are trying to get more distance and power out of your shots.

When at the driving range, you may be able to visibly see improvements in distance. Even at the range though, a difference of 10 to 15 yards may be difficult to spot, especially on longer yardage shots. And when hitting into a net, there's no way to detect improvements in swing speed. Same thing goes if you're just swinging a club without a ball. That's one reason a swing speed tool is so useful. You can track improvements, no matter where you're swinging or whether you're hitting a ball or not.

Accuracy

To test the accuracy of any launch monitor, we take it to the range, as well as on a round of golf. We track the measurements it gives for each shot we take and compare those measurements against the measurements we record using the Bushnell Pro. The Bushnell Pro is, in our estimation, the most accurate rangefinder on the planet.

We found a 3 to 6-yard discrepancy between the rangefinder measurements and the readings from the SC200 Plus. From the wedges all through the irons, there was consistently a 3-yard difference. Once we started hitting around 200 yards and over, the difference was around 6 yards consistently.

Being 3 yards off from one of the most accurate yardage measuring devices on shorter shots, and 6 yards off on longer shots, is a respectable feat for this category of launch monitor. We were impressed, and pleasantly surprised, at the accuracy. It is plenty accurate to help you figure out the yard ranges of each of your clubs. It's also more than accurate enough to track swing speed improvements.

Ease of Use

This launch monitor is very simple to use. All you really have to do is turn it on and start swinging. Any adjustments that you want to make can be done using the included remote. When you switch clubs, you'll want to adjust the loft on the monitor, which is one time the remote comes in very handy. And if you can't quite read the screen for whatever reason, it will tell you (audibly) the distance you just hit after a few seconds.

Review Continued: Swing Caddie SC200 Plus Modes

The Swing Caddie Plus comes programmed with 4 modes: swing speed, target, approach, and practice. As we mentioned earlier, swing speed mode can be done with or without a ball. With target mode, you decide on the distance. Then you hit 10 shots, and after each shot you will receive a score based on the distance of your shot vs. the predetermined target distance.

Approach mode gives you varying, shorter distances, and again you receive a score after each shot based on how closely you came to the provided distance. With practice mode, you just swing and the monitor will display your swing speed, the distance of your shot, the speed of your ball, how many shots you have taken in total, and how long you've been at it.

Swing Caddie SC200 Plus vs. SC200

The Swing Caddie SC200 Plus has identical features and capabilities to the SC200, with one additional feature, and that's swing speed. In our opinion, the swing speed feature is a great addition to the SC200 that almost any golfer can benefit from.

Final Verdict on the SC200 Plus

The Swing Caddie SC200 Plus is a great tool. It was surprisingly accurate, is easy to use, and the modes give you plenty of options to switch up how you practice and what you can focus on. And the addition of the swing speed feature can play huge dividends in helping you really dial in the distances in your wedges and irons. It will also help you track improvements in your swing speed.

We really enjoyed using this device, and we regularly recommend this product to those students of ours looking for a more budget friendly launch monitor, and for use with other swing speed training products. It is one of the best values among all golf training tools and can be beneficial to players of all skill levels.
