Best Indoor Putting Greens 2021
Quick Links
I've always maintained that the most important piece to any golfer's game is putting. The putter is used on 99% of holes that you play. You can make greater improvements to your score in much faster time by improving your putting than by focusing on any other piece of your game.
Indoor putting greens are one way you can spend a lot more time practicing this crucial part of your game. It's also an easy way to entertain guests, and a great way to unwind after a long day of work. We purchased dozens of portable putting greens. We put them to the test, and below you will find our reviews and recommendations for what we consider the best indoor putting greens.

VariSpeed Putting Green System
Review
The VariSpeed gives you more features than any other product to help improve your putting. You can adjust the stimp rating (the speed of, or how fast the ball rolls on the mat), a feature you won't find in many other mats. You can also make slope adjustments, to help you learn to read and hit uphill puts, downhill puts, or puts that go up and down.
We love the markings on this green. It's something that is rather uncommon, but very useful in training your brain and your muscles to know what different lengths of putts look and feel like.
The VariSpeed is loaded with useful features. Being able to adjust the green speed and the slope, as well as having the markings is why the VariSpeed is our top choice for putting improvement.

Abco Tech Golf Putting Green
Review
The Abco Tech putting green is a very simplistic mat that offers great variety. The kidney shape presents different challenges, depending on where you're hitting from. And the 3 holes offer greater variation and challenges as you change your hitting spot.
There also is a gradual slope that is the most realistic of all the mats we tested. This adds yet another element of difficulty and variety to the mix.
The Abco Tech green was a lot of fun to hit on. No other indoor/portable mat we tested provided as much variation. This makes it more fun for games with guests and allows you to change up the monotony of hitting the same putt over and over again.

Abco Tech Putting Mat w/Ball Return
Review
We really enjoyed using this mat by Abco Tech. There is an accuracy line leading all the way to the hole on one side, which is very helpful for learning to putt straight. We also liked being able to hit puts on the other side without the help of the accuracy line.
This mat is around 10' long, so you can practice puts at varying distances. The built-in ball return is also a really nice feature to have so you can practice the same putt again and again without moving. This really helps instill the feel of your putts into muscle memory.
The only thing that wasn't great about this mat is the slope at the end. It's fairly abrupt and just not very realistic. Overall though, this is a great mat with multiple surfaces, multiple holes, an accuracy line, and a ball return that make this thing a lot of fun and great for putting improvement.

Budget Pick Home Indoor Putting Green
Review
SKLZ has really stepped up and created some good golf training tools. Their Accelerator Pro putting green is a nice addition to those tools. With 3 marked distances as well as a ball return, you can really dial in and train your muscle memory what those distances feel like. The markings are also cleverly done to help you practice hitting the ball straight, giving instant feedback if you turn your club head or didn't swing straight.
The SKLZ Accelerator Pro mat is only 18" wide. This is a much narrower footprint than most mats, making it fit in many places that others wouldn't be able to. At 9' in length, there is plenty of distance to practice different lengths of putts as well. The features you get combined with the price make this the best value indoor putting green and our budget value pick.

Upstreet Putting Mat
Review
A quick glance at the Upstreet Putting Mat tells you they excel at one thing: portability. There's not a better option for those seeking ultimate portability. These easily fit in any bag or suitcase, even in your glove box for that matter.
Obviously, these work best on a very flat carpet. You're not going to want to throw them down on the hardwood or shaggy carpet. We have actually gotten use out of these on real practice putting greens that sometimes can get a little crowded. You can create your own hole and space to practice on in an instant.
