Top Golf Balls for Seniors 2021
Quick Links
When selecting which golf ball to use, most players are looking for maximum benefits from the ball for one of two areas: distance or control.
A harder ball designed to spin less will be best suited for those looking for distance. A softer ball with more spin is what those seeking control should opt for. Ideally, there would be a ball that offers maximum distance and maximum control.
Unfortunately, the features that make a ball better for distance – hard shell and low spin rate – are the exact opposite of the features that make a ball better for control – soft shell and high spin rate.
As you age, your swing speed will naturally decrease. It's just a part of life. Because of this, we usually recommend that senior players choose a ball that is better for distance. This means a harder outside which results in a lower spin rate for increasing the amount of time the ball spends in flight.
Turns out there's one more thing that can be done to a ball to increase distance on slower wing speeds, and that's soften the core of the ball. This allows for more compression at impact. The softer the core of the ball is, the lower the compression rating, which means the more the ball will compress when hit, resulting in more of a pop off of the club head.
We tested over 20 kinds of golf balls to find the balls that offer the greatest distance with a slower club head speed. We also tested for control so we could find the balls with the best distance while sacrificing the least amount of control. Below you will find the results of our tests, as well as our recommendations for golf balls best suited for senior golfers.

Best of the Best Golf Balls for Senior Golfers
Callaway Supersoft
Review
Callaway is obviously a heavy hitter brand in the golf world. As the name suggests, the Callaway Supersoft is soft. Really soft. Extremely soft. Again, the benefit of a softer core is better compression at impact, which launches the ball and generates greater distance on slower golf swings.
The problem with going too soft is you lose durability and create balls that break or crack quickly. Callaway created what may be the softest ball on earth in the Supersoft, and did so while keeping the durability high. This is honestly an incredible feat.
Because the core is so soft and durable, the Supersoft is able to achieve really good distance, second only to the TaylorMade Rocketballz. This achievement allowed Callaway to put a soft cover on the Supersoft without sacrificing any distance. This means you get maximum feel and control in your short game in addition to the length off of the tees.
The Supersoft was the second longest ball we tested and had the very best feel and control of the balls we tested for slow golf swings. The only thing keeping this ball from being our runaway favorite pick is the steeper price point. Because of this, it is our top pick with an asterisk – best senior golf ball *regardless of price.

Runner-up Low Compression Golf Ball for Seniors
Bridgestone E6
Review
The Bridgestone E5 is one of the only 2-piece golf balls on the market with a urethane cover. Urethane is specifically suited to create more ball spin and is usually found on more expensive balls for lower handicap players. However, with the E5, Bridgestone was able to create really good distance, despite the urethane cover creating more spin.
The large core of the E5 is a large reason for the increased distance. With slower swing speeds, the larger core provides more compression, acting like a springboard when struck. Then when you get around the greens, you get really good spin on the ball for better feel and getting the ball to stick.
The distance on the Bridgestone E5 wasn't quite as good as the Callaway Supersoft, but it was close. And the E5 control was better than that of the Titleist Trusoft. All in all, the E5 is a great ball that comes in at just under the Supersoft for best senior golf ball.

Best Senior Golf Ball for Durability
Titleist Tour Soft
Review
Titleist is maybe the best know brand in the world of golf balls with their flagship ball, the Pro V1. Titleist took their expertise in designing top-of-the-line golf balls and focused it on creating a ball to help those with slower swing speeds achieve maximum distance. And that's precisely what the Tour Soft does.
The Tour Soft features the softest core of any Titleist golf balls, which maximizes compression at impact. This results in the ball rocketing off the club head at impact with slower swings.
One of the common tradeoffs with a really soft ball is durability. It's hard to make a ball soft that can withstand being hit with a golf club over and over again. Titleist created a durability masterpiece with the Tour Soft. It's not just amazingly durable for a soft ball, it's amazingly durable compared to any ball.
We were also pleasantly surprised with the control and feel of the ball around the green. Titleist created a ball that gives slower swingers maximum distance while still maintaining good control on those shorter approach shots. And the Tour Soft is one of the most durable balls we've ever tested. This makes the Titleist Tour Soft our top pick for most durable golf ball for senior players.

Top Distance Golf Balls for Seniors
TaylorMade Rocketballz
Review
TaylorMade is one of the biggest name brands in golf, and a legitimate player in the world of golf balls. The TaylorMade Rocketballz golf balls are their super soft golf ball offering. They are designed for distance, and they excel at it. In fact, the Rocketballz were the longest ball we tested, thanks in part to the very low 60-compression rating.
The Rocketballz features an ionomer cover that doesn't offer as much control as a urethane cover, but better control than some of the harder covers often used in soft core balls. The control in our approach shots around the green was decent.
It's clear this ball was designed for distance though. And the fact that they maintained any level of control and feel at all is pretty amazing. The TaylorMade Rocketballz is our runaway pick for best distance golf ball for senior golfers.

Budget Pick Golf Balls for Seniors with Low Swing Speed
Srixon AD333
Review
The Srixon AD333 really surprised us with its performance throughout our testing. The reason it surprised us is it did a really good job for a ball that is as affordable as this one. Inexplicably, the AD333 stood up really well against the big players, including our other top picks, in distance, control, and feel.
It wasn't the best, or even the second best in any one area. But it was always in the mix, and this really stood out to us.
With the Srixon AD333 you just get a really solid performer. It has good distance, you get decent feel around the greens, and the control was above average.
There were no glaring weaknesses, which is so rare in a golf product that comes in at as low of a price point as the Srixon AD333. For this reason, the Srixon AD333 is our easy choice for best budget friendly ball for seniors.
